Memorial day has become much commercialized. The past few decades has made this event into a time for barbecues, sales, pool openings and a celebration of the start of summer.
This weekend let’s not forget the reason the holiday was established in 1868. It is one of the United States most important holidays. For without the lives our American soldiers have given for our great country we would not be enjoying the freedoms we sometimes take for granted. As your weekend progresses don’t forget to honor the memory of all the soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice by giving their lives in service to our country.
We salute the men and women that served our country and gave their lives so we might live in freedom.
